CLOSE PORTRAITS

YOU ARE YOUR ROOTS. In the portrait, the artist's attention to detail, characteristic of his style and poetics, becomes the individual's features. The artist loses himself in the beauty of the imperfections that give true strength to the image.

Beyond the romantic vision, where all the details conceal the individual's personal history: their dreams, their temperament, their struggles, their weariness, and their conquests, here the artist's scientific vision finds full expression.

In the close-up portrait, the artist loses himself in the contemplation of the phenotype, which is the true manifestation of the individual's genetic heritage, the result of alterations and unions stemming from his unique family tree. These aesthetic characteristics of a person (a discourse that can be extended to all non-aesthetic and physiological characters), the manifestation of eye color, the unique shape of the cheekbone, or the proportions of the sense organs, are a legacy that speaks strongly of roots, in a natural rather than philosophical sense.

In the case of the close-up portrait, the scene and the surrounding still life become a contour that always tells of a labyrinth towards a secret or a truth, but the journey of reflection concludes in the texture of the skin, in the moisture of the cornea, in an even deeper contemplation of the soul and of human nature extrapolated from the space and time in which it lives.

TU SEI LE TUE RADICI.  Nel ritratto la ricerca del dettaglio, propria dello stile e della poetica dell’ artista diventano i lineamenti dell’individuo. L’artista si perde nella bellezza delle imperfezioni che danno vera forza all’immagine.

Oltre alla visione romantica, dove tutti i particolari nascondono la storia personale dell’individuo: i suoi sogni, il suo temperamento, le sue sue battaglie, la sua stanchezza e la sue conquiste, qui la visione scientifica dell’artista trova molta espressione.

Nel ritratto ravvicinato l’artista si perde nella contemplazione del fenotipo che è  la manifestazione reale del patrimonio genetico dell’individuo, frutto di rimaneggiamenti e unioni provenienti dal suo unico albero genealogico. Questi caratteri estetici di una persona (discorso estendibile a tutti i caratteri non estetici e fisiologici), la manifestazione del colore degli occhi, la speciale conformazione dello zigomo o le proporzioni degli organi di senso è un eredità che parla fortemente di radici, in senso naturale più che filosofico.

Nel caso del ritratto ravvicinato la scena e la natura morta attorno  diventano un contorno che racconta sempre un labirinto verso un segreto o una verità, ma il viaggio di riflessione si conclude nella texture della pelle, nell’umido della cornea, in una contemplazione ancora più profonda sull’animo e della natura umana estrapolata dallo spazio e dal tempo in cui vive.
